“Synthetic Intimacy” and the Value of Friendship in Computopia

A Conversation on AI, Alignment, and Meaning

Harri Kallio & Claude (additional input from Gemini, GLM-4.7, DeepSeek, and Perplexity)

An extended conversation between the artist and an AI system, Claude, conducted from the point of view of the Entropic Imaginarium. Starting from eighteen essays and articles on AI, it asks what machine interpretation leaves out — about biology, meaning, judgment, and friendship — and what an art practice built on earth process has to say back.

The text is an edited dialogue, not a transcript: the direction of the inquiry is Kallio’s, the conversation is shared. Its argument, put briefly, is that a system becomes dangerous when it takes the edge of what it can represent for the edge of what exists — an error that belongs to people and practices as much as to machines.

Like the conversation it records, this text is an ongoing exploration and should be considered unfinished and subject to change as it evolves.
